A cozy tea latte, this London Fog drink is so easy to make at home! Earl Grey tea combined with honey, vanilla, and steamy milk, this drink will warm you from the inside out.

Perfect for a cold morning or when you want to feel cozy, this london fog tea latte comes together so quickly and easily! Invented in Vancouver, BC, this london fog latte combines black tea with steamy hot milk. It tastes like a sweet vanilla latte with savory hints of floral black tea, making it a classic latte that I always go back to.

Why You’ll Love This Tea Latte Recipe

  • It’s simple and made with basic ingredients that you may already have on hand.
  • It’s warm, cozy, and perfect for a cold day.
  • It’s flavorful thanks to the floral and citrus notes in the earl grey tea. Plus the vanilla and honey make for a sweet addition to the tea latte.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to make london fog.
  • honey — you can sweeten the tea latte with honey or maple syrup.
  • vanilla — I recommend using real vanilla extract and not artificial extract.
  • earl grey tea — you can use loose leaf or a bag. I recommend using good-quality tea as some tea bags do not use whole tea leaves but use small broken leaves and tea dust.
  • water — to steep the tea in.
  • milk — you can use any type of milk you prefer.

  • In a heat-safe glass or measuring cup, combine the honey, vanilla extract, and hot water.
  • Add the earl grey tea and let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes, depending on how strong you’d like the latte to be. Meanwhile, use a milk steamer to steam your milk. I use my trusty smeg.

Recipe Tips and Notes

  • You can add a pinch of brown sugar for a deeper sweet flavor, as the molasses will give you some caramel notes.
  • You can simply froth your milk or just add the milk directly to the tea if you prefer.
  • Sometimes I hold off on some of the tea and add it at the end to top up the latte after sipping on it for a while. It’ll taste a little stronger in the second half 😉

Does london fog have caffeine in it?

Yes, London fog generally contains caffeine due to the black tea. Alternatively, you can use decaffeinated Earl Grey tea for a decaffeinated london fog.

How do I make this without a frother?

If you don’t have a frother, heat up milk on the stovetop. It won’t be foamy but it’ll still be delicious.

Can I make this stronger?

You can make this london fog stronger by steeping the tea longer or by adding a shot of espresso for a more intense flavor.
